Sometimes life becomes overwhelming. When this happens I typically stop doing everything and withdraw. This is why I haven’t written anything in the past month.
But I realized today that I can no longer be lazy about this because I’m called to bring hope into the tragedies of the world.
Tragedies like the loss of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. I am overwhelmed with sadness for these families. I can’t imagine what it is like to lose someone close to you in such a violent way.
Put away all the politics and crap that people are regurgitating and you are left with grieving families. Families that need comfort and hope.
I watched the video of Alton’s son grieving for his daddy and I couldn’t help but grieve with him. That should be everyone’s response. We should want justice for this family.
I’m outraged for this family. I’m not black, but I don’t have to be to be upset by injustice.
I’m tired of hearing All Lives Matter. Of course they freaking do. That’s the whole point of Black Lives Matter. The point is that black lives are not as valued as other lives. Black people don’t want to devalue anyone else’s lives they just want us to give two craps about their lives.
Can we stop this political nonsense and realize that there is an actual race issue in our nation and do something about it?
We have not rid ourselves of racism. I don’t have to look past my own family to see racism isn’t dead. Can we be real here?
We have to stop pointing fingers and realize we are part of the problem.
You know where there is hope in these situations? Christ can redeem them for good. He can take these tragedies and bring change in our country and within us.
But we can’t idly sit back and watch everything unfold. As the church we MUST be involved in the tragedies of the nation and race discussion. We can no longer ignore the issue of race.
We must begin to reach people of all races with the gospel and look to desegregate our churches.
Honestly some of the most racist and hateful people I’ve known go to church. It must stop.
If you disagree with me and want to leave a hateful comment, please do. I honestly don’t care because it won’t change what I believe.
If you actually want to make a difference in the world then love people of all races. Go out of your way to be loving and gracious to people of different races than you. Make it a point to be friends with people of different races. Make it a point to care about the tragedies that minorities face. And STOP saying All Lives Matter.
